Great companion lost but never forgotten...
My family adopted a "7 year old" dachshund (Buddy) after my wife discovered him on Craigslist. I was reluctant to take in a pet of his age due to the idea that he may already be set in his ways. Upon our arrival, we discovered that he was in the possession of a less-than-desirable family and appeared to have been abused. Needless to say, we scooped him up and took him home with us. He was very grateful for this and it showed too. My wife decided to take him to the vet for a basic checkup and discovered that he much older than the previous owner had claimed he was. The vet confirmed that he was indeed "at least 13 years old"!!! To make a long story short, he turned out to be the most lovable, affectionate, and playful little guy. He seemed more like a puppy. He proved to me that an elderly Dachshund is the way to go if you are looking for a great companion. If you have the chance to take one home, do it and you will see what I mean.
We love and miss you dearly Buddy,
Ron, Shelly, Devin, Jacob, and Alyssa

miss our little Oscar
Our little Oscar , 9 yrs old left us for the rainbox bridge on Aug. 21, 2009.. We are so sad.
Anyone that is thinking of bringing a Doxie in your life, you will have the love of a lifetime.
All of our little family is gone now... and our hearts are broken. Maybe someday we will heal and can give another special need Doxie all of our love and attention.

Lucky Doxie, Lucky Mom
I adpoed my rescue doxie in the summer of 07 from a society in Phoenix I was less than pleased with. I took her just to save her from that place! When I got her she was FILTHY. Her previous owners had not bathed her probably EVER and this rescue had not taken the intrest either. The woman never called to see how she was and I have since moved to California where she is thrilled to have the run of the place. Thank heaven for rescues such as yours that care about their animals and have such great foster systems. Keep up the good work!

Glad to have found you!
We love the Dachshund breed, and were so excited when a friend told us about your organization. We have been thinking about adding a member to our family...we really think our current Doxie/Chihuahua needs a sibling to play with.
Looking forward to working with you all!

Doing the right thing doxie style
My 2 doxies Will and Jack were not from a rescue, but I got them shortly after I moved to AZ and I hadn't known the area or much about breeders and rescues in the Valley. My next doxie will absolutely be a rescue and I wish I could foster one now, but my landlord would freak. I love everything about dachshunds and it's so nice to know that there are people like you that make a difference and make both owner and doxie extremely happy!

great site!
I've emailed my info and would love to become a foster for a Dachshund. We have one who is nearly 3 and are so in love with the breed. She's been the most fun dog we've ever had. Keep up the good work!
